BEHIND THE CITY

About Capora City

Capora City was created to bring the long-term community and progression of classic text-based mafia games into a more interactive browser experience.

THE IDEA

Keep the genre. Change the experience.

Text-based mafia games have always worked because they are easy to enter, social, competitive and capable of holding a community for years. Capora City does not try to throw that identity away.

Instead, the goal is to modernise what happens between the menus. Rather than every activity becoming click a button, wait, receive a result, Capora City introduces more moments where the player prepares, chooses, reacts or interacts.

Crime jobs can ask how you want to approach them. Auto Theft puts targets on a city map and turns the theft into a process. Racing plays out as a session. Families fight over visible districts. Co-op operations need real people. PvP asks for information and preparation. The browser-game format remains familiar, but the player has more to do inside it.

THE GAME

A persistent criminal world

Capora City is built around one long criminal career. You start as an Outsider and progress through crime, vehicles, money, reputation, training, missions and community systems on the road to Capora Boss.

The city is not designed as a collection of disconnected minigames. Vehicles you steal can be maintained and raced. Travel connects to Smuggling and player-owned Travel Agencies. Training feeds PvP and Mafia Bosses. Families connect to territory. Inventory connects to criminal jobs and combat. Progress in one part of the game can create opportunities somewhere else.

The aim is a world that becomes more interesting as more people join it.

ABOUT THE DEVELOPER

iDev - returning to where it started

iDev first began developing text-based mafia games back in 2000. Over the years that followed he created and ran several different games and became known within the browser-game community of that era.

He eventually stepped away from text browser game development and focused his time on business outside the genre. After building that side of his life successfully, he returned years later to a type of game he had never completely forgotten.

What stood out on returning was how familiar many of the old systems still felt. The genre had survived, but a lot of gameplay still followed the same pattern: choose an action, click a button, wait for the result. iDev wanted to see what happened if the accessibility and long-term progression of those games were kept, while the moment-to-moment experience became more engaging.

Capora City was first planned in 2025. Before development began in full, iDev spent time researching what a modern version of this kind of game would require - from persistent progression and anti-abuse systems to mobile design, live interfaces, player economies, payments, community tools and interactive gameplay.

Once that foundation was understood, development began. Capora City grew from a planned return to the genre into a complete game built around a simple principle: the player should feel involved in the outcome, not like they are only waiting for the server to tell them what happened.

Development of the launch version is now complete. The next chapter belongs to the players who enter the city and decide what kind of community, economy and criminal world grows from it.

DESIGN PHILOSOPHY

Player choice over passive results

Not every action needs to be a reflex game, and Capora City remains a browser RPG at heart. But where interaction adds meaning, the game tries to use it: choices during crimes, preparation before races, map selection in Auto Theft, crew building for co-op jobs and intelligence before PvP.

Cooldowns still exist because an economy without limits quickly stops being an economy. The difference is that waiting is used as balance, not as a replacement for gameplay.

BUILT TO KEEP EVOLVING

Launch is the foundation

The systems are designed so content can expand after release: new crimes, vehicles, events, Seasons, bosses, missions, rewards, business types, city activity and community competition can all grow without rebuilding the game from scratch.

Player behaviour and feedback after launch will help decide where that expansion matters most.
